Setting up Hotmail alerts

The following steps will instruct you on setting up a feature within your Hotmail account such that new messages will be forwarded to your phone as a text message. Please note that you may be charged extra for receiving these text messages. Also note that while this is a good method of receiving message alerts, it is not a very good method of actually reading your email (that is what Soda-Pop Mail is for!).

1. Log into your Hotmail account.
2. Click on the "Options" tab.
3. Under the "Mail Handling" section, select "Alerts"
4. Choose under what conditions you wish to receive alerts (i.e. text messages).
5. Click on the "MSN Mobile Page" link, or just go to www.vzw.msn.com
6. Click on the "My Device" tab.
7. Select "Update Device Information"
8. Follow the instructions to activate.

(Note: We suspect that this will work on carriers other then Verizon Wireless...just enter your cell phone number and test it!)
